Being a transplant from Chicago myself, I know the anticipation of driving an hour and a half to reach this incredible place — and the dread of the ride back to the city. For years, I would come here just for a night, to breathe it in and feel renewed. That rhythm of arrival and departure taught me something: the beauty of this area never really leaves you. It stays in your heart, waiting to be recalled. Now, I am grateful to call this place home. Every day I walk the woods next door with my dog, Stella, and the beach is only three and a half miles from my house.

Stella has even made her way into one of my calendar photographs on the shore — a reminder that beauty is never just seen, but shared.
